A Legacy of Custom Printhead Design Work
For over 25 years, SSI Printheads has designed and advanced the thermal printhead industry. In 2002, we invented and designed the first 'smart printhead' with data acquisition technology, collecting thousands of data points in real-time during printing. All of the printhead’s operating data was stored on an EEPROM that could be immediately read by the customer. This patented technology was sold to Zebra Technologies in 2006 and heralded SSI Printheads as a true innovator in the thermal printhead industry.
Our knowledge and unique position in the thermal printhead industry has allowed us to provide an alternative to Kyocera, ROHM and Toshiba. We contract directly with multiple thermal printhead manufacturers to provide the highest quality and consistency in thermal printhead manufacturing. This also creates a competitiveness between manufacturers to provide the lowest cost and highest quality thermal printhead.
